Joanna Aquilina

Joanna Aquilina has over twenty-five years’ insurance and regulatory experience. She is CFO for ICMS Malta Ltd and has a wide experience in licensing and running insurance entities. Joanna worked for Mapfre Middlesea in Finance and moved to the insurance management arm of the Group. Joanna moved to Aon Captive Insurance Managers in Guernsey and Gibraltar successfully leading her own teams. She became director of Aon Insurance Managers in Malta and was part of the leadership team of Aon Captive Insurance Managers for EMEA. She provided advisory on risk management and Solvency II for a wide range of clients whilst being responsible for operations and business development. She was CEO and Executive Director of Gossmann & Cie. Insurance PCC Ltd. offering structured solutions through segregated protected cells. Previous to this she was CEO of DARAG Insurance and Reinsurance PCC Ltd. and member of its Investment Committee providing run-off cell solutions to carriers interested in finality of discontinued insurance.  Joanna, a Certified Public Accountant by profession, is also a non-executive director for HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) Ltd. and member of its Audit and Risk Committee. Joanna is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta and part-time trainer at MITC, an insurance training centre.
